I was asked about my favorite iPhone shopping app. I must say that it is by far the Amazon Mobile app. It is my favorite, not because I like shopping. But in fact because I do NOT like shopping.

The quick demo of the application demonstrates how a three hour wild goose chase of trying to replace a broken coffee maker carafe was completed in less than 3 minutes thanks to this application.

What makes it different is that it allows you to take a photograph with your iPhone from within the app of any product and upload it to Amazon.com. They do the magic, I am told that this is done by humans (but some fancy software must be involved to do this at this speed) they figure out the type of product and then match it to a product in Amazon’s database. In the case of the example I posted they correctly identified not only the manufacturer but the model and the size. All this in 3 minutes. Wow! But wait it gets better!

They also found the best price and gave me the choice to purchase the item with one click-two day shipping. I saved three hours of research and shopping that weekend.

This is a great application to buy items such as a broken coffee carafe, water filter replacement etc, things that do not need a lot of research and should not demand weekend time to do. (Except for those who actually enjoy shopping for water filters).

Plus if you have an Amazon Prime account you get free two day shipping on most items. This beats your local stores any day.

TIP: Remember adding regularly ordered consumable items like bulbs, kitchen rolls, air filters, water filters to your amazon account “wish list” can make reordering a breeze.
