Sonos has had an iPhone app for some time. The previous app gave enough control of all your Sonos zones that the dedicated Sonos remote seemed so last decade that most users could load this app on to an iPod Touch and forget the dedicated $349 remote.

Sonos iPad app

The new Sonos iPad app is fantastic

Now Sonos goes one step further by finally releasing a dedicated iPad app. I know that all iPhone apps can be used on the iPad but after seeing a few iPad apps the iPhone versions just seem ugly and kludgy. After long rumors that a dedicated iPad app would be released we finally had our wish answered and I was not disappointed.

The iPad version of Sonos takes full advantage of the large real estate on the iPad. It is a beautiful well laid out controller that can use both landscape and portrait views. It is very responsive and easy to use. Cover art can be displayed in full screen at a decent resolution. Browsing through a very large music library really enjoyable. All your favorite radio stations are available through iHeartradio. If you are a Rhapsody subscriber you will not be disappointed either.

Of course you also have access to the killer application Pandora radio. For those who still do not know what Pandora is: it is an online free music service that lets you create custom music stations that are chosen by you. See some of my favorite tracks and artists in the feed in the column on the right.

Sonos is a wireless music system that is really easy to setup. Listen to your music collection or stream from online services like Pandora throughout your home by adding Sonos units in any room you want. They are as simple as just plugging then in. The initial cost of the units is high but the installation and use is a no brainer.

I have had a growing Sonos network throughout my home for the past six years and still use it everyday.
