So the next generation iPhone called the iPhone 4S was formally announced today. In my opinion the most important new feature is the integration of Siri voice recognition throughout the system.

For those unfamiliar with Siri. It is a voice enabled natural language application. It was scary good as an app on the current generation iPhones. It was so good that Apple bought the company over a year ago. We did not see any use of this till now. The integration into the 4S gives the user the freedom to naturally ask the phone questions without any training or preset commands. Just ask “Call mom” or “Do I need a raincoat tomorrow?” and it will understand what you mean by either dialing the number or showing the forecast. Hopefully it will work as good as the demo.

Apple has raised the bar on what makes a great mobile phone— again

I was really hoping that the next phone would have Siri built in to compete with voice capabilities of the Android platform. It looks like Apple took it to the next level.
In fact running Siri now on an iPhone 3GS brings up this new message promoting the iPhone 4S
