360 degree panorama

What is a 360 degree panorama?

I find 360 degree panoramas fascinating. They are seamless 360 degree photographs of a scene. The viewer can pan around the scene in any direction including up and down. They can capture the whole mood of a location. With a bit of care they can capture a lot of detail to. Think of it as projecting a panorama on to the inside of a sphere.

How are they shot?

These 360 degree panoramas are captured with four images taken with a Sigma 7mm lens on a full frame sensor Canon 5D. They are later processed in DXO labs to improve contrast and sharpness. Later they are imported into ptgui where the panorama is stitched and a web enabled format is created that I later export to this site for viewing.
